Nothing can frustrate new riders quite like bicycle gears. Unfortunately, shifting bike gears isn’t a terribly intuitive thing. It takes a bit of time and thought to learn how to shift properly and efficiently. The good news is once you get a bit of practice, shifting becomes second-nature–something you don’t have to think about at all. In order to help hasten

Today was the 2nd time I’ve used Bike Werks. They did a very good tune-up job the 1st time I used them, but this time I checked a few local bike shops for their repair costs and timeframes, and Bike Werks was the cheapest and fastest, plus by far the most convenient since they came to my home instead of me doing 2 trips to a bike shop to drop off and pickup. Another thing I like is their attention to detail and persistence. I had an issue with my bike that could have led to a replacement, which would have cost far more money, but they took the extra time to address the existing part. They do not work on an hourly rate, but they focused on doing what is the customer’s best interest. Not everyone does that. So from my experience Bike Werks also provides high quality and service in addition to cost and time advantages.

We met Carl from Bike Werks at the Olney Farmers Market and he came by our home and set up his shop in our garage. He was honest, fast and competent. He fixed all the family bikes without his having to lug them to a bike shop in my minivan. And his prices were reasonable.

He does great work, has great prices, and HE COMES TO YOU!

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, ResponsivenessWe had an excellent experience with Karl, Marty and Chad. Quick response when I reached out, honest and constructive input on what needed to be done to our son’s relatively new bike, and to a 25-year old bike that we were considering salvaging. These folks showed up when they said they would, were honest and straightforward with the costs, and just made us excited to get these bikes going again. Very convenient to have them come to our driveway to do the work – a real asset to have in our community!

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, ValueHighly recommend. Been off the bike for 10 years and my old Fuji has seen better days. The stem was almost slammed from back in the days when I was thinner and flexible. Carl had a stem in the van with a positive rise and that was shorter. Much more comfortable with the new stem. Excellent craftsmanship on the tune up. Even stuck around to make sure my seat height was perfect. All around a great experience and proud to support a local Olney business.

Amazing service and support from Carl. Received a bike for Xmas and tried to set it up myself. Made everything worse so brought in Carl and he set everything correctly in 30 min. Even came to my door New Year’s Day! Highly recommend for price and professionalism

Just had my bike tuned up and a tube replaced at my house by Bike Werks! Marty and Chad came to my house and did a fantastic tune-up, including replacing a bad tube and switching bike seats. Then they waited to have me test ride and re-adjusted the seat to a comfortable & safe height. Since my bike is from Germany, the built is different than American bikes they’re used to, but they had no problem with it.Their price is very reasonable, esp. to conveniently come to my house to do the work.I’m very happy and highly recommend them!

Like many others we bought bikes and decided to use them during the pandemic as a way to stay active and socially distant. Because of the amount of people needing their services we had to wait a while to get booked for them to come to us in Silver Spring – we didn’t want to go to Olney with the bikes early on a weekend, but that is an option. Carl arrived just a few minutes early, set up his gear and got right to work. The bikes were new and we built them from the instructions we got with them. Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that you don’t get from those booklets. Carl and the other guy with him took time to explain what they were doing, how to keep our bikes in good shape and how to always ensure our wheels are properly trued. This company is a GEM of a find. Like I said not only did they fix and tune up my bikes but showed me how to do it myself in the future. They are like the Santa Claus at Macy’s on Miracle on 34th Street…

Bike Werks is Great! Carl, the owner came to my house and got my new bike ready to ride. He is a very nice guy, works fast, and has very reasonable charges. This service sure beats dragging the bike into a shop and having to go back later and pick it up. I was very pleased with Bike Werks and will definitely use them again when my bike needs repair or a tuneup.
